Warhammer 40k Escalation League - Season One
Welcome to Top Tier Board Games' inaugural Escalation League for Warhammer 40k! The goal of an escalation league is to get new players, train existing ones, and have fun while working towards tournament-level armies. Events will run bi-weekly with army size increases spaced to allow players time to build, paint, and plan. Here's a brief overview of how it breaks down.
The league is scheduled into 6 rounds across 12 weeks, with points increasing as follows:
Round 1 & 2 - 250 points
Round 3 & 4 - 500 points
Round 5 & 6 - 750 points
Games can be played every Saturday and Sunday at Top Tier Board Games, whenever tables are available. Each round, you will be paired with a new player. We will be providing a Facebook group, but it is your responsibility to coordinate with your opponent. Scores are due by the last Sunday of the round, and new pairings will be posted on the following Monday.
Season Two will continue this point scaling after a brief break.
Players must pick a specific codex for the season. If a codex has multiple armies, a specific chapter must be chosen as well.
For this league, boards may be 4’ x 4’, with terrain required at a minimum of 1 piece per 250 points (500pt game has a minimum of two pieces of terrain). Terrain effects must be agreed upon by both players before the game.
Some unit restrictions will be applied for game balance reasons. These will be posted in the Facebook group and to each individual escalation round’s Facebook event, as well as at the bottom of this page.
Games must be played with prior notice to a store employee that it is an official game. Both players are responsible for making sure the employee on duty at the time is aware of the game in order to earn points.
Two types of points are available to be earned, Combat Points(CP) and Hobby Points(HP). Prizes will be awarded to the player with the most Combat Points, the player with the most Hobby Points, and to a community-voted Best Sportsmanship.
Points will be awarded based on the following chart:
5 CP per Win
2 CP per Draw
1 CP per Loss
1 HP per Paint Night Attended (MAX 5)
1 HP for fielding a Completely Painted Army
1 HP for a WYSIWYG List
